Privacy Policy and Notice
This Privacy Policy describes how Anthor ("we", "us"), operated by Brian M Carroll, collects, uses, shares and protects personal information when you visit anthorecommerce.com or buy from us, and the choices and rights you have. Effective date: October 15, 2026.
1. Categories of Personal Information
We collect the following categories of personal information:
- Identifiers and contact details — name, email address, shipping and billing address, phone number, provided when you order or contact us.
- Order and payment information — products purchased, order value, and payment details. Card numbers are collected and processed directly by Shopify Payments (powered by Stripe); we see only the last four digits and the payment method.
- Account and communication data — messages you send us, reviews you submit, and your customer service history.
- Device and usage data — IP address, browser type, device identifiers, pages viewed, referring URLs and interactions with the Site, collected automatically through cookies and similar technologies (see our Cookie Policy).
- Marketing preferences — whether you have subscribed to or unsubscribed from our emails.
2. Who Is Responsible for Your Data
Anthor is owned and operated by Brian M Carroll (ANTHOR E-COMMERCE) at 1301 Evergreen Court, Highland Mills, NY 10930, United States. We decide how and why your personal information is processed; Shopify Inc. provides the platform on which the Site runs and processes data under our instructions. For anything related to your data, write to help@anthorecommerce.com.
3. Sharing Your Information
We do not sell your personal information, and we share it only as needed to run our business: with Shopify (platform hosting, checkout and order management); payment processors (Shopify Payments (powered by Stripe) and the payment methods you choose) to authorize payments and prevent fraud; shipping carriers and fulfillment partners such as USPS, UPS and JS Express located in the United States, China and the European Union, who receive your name, address and phone number to deliver your order; tracking, email and customer service tools that help us communicate with you; analytics and advertising partners (such as Google and Meta) that process usage data through cookies as described in our Cookie Policy; and authorities or advisers when required by law, to enforce our terms, or to protect rights and safety. If the business is sold or merged, customer data may be transferred to the successor under the same commitments.
4. Purposes of Processing
We use personal information to: process and deliver your orders and send order, shipping and delivery updates; provide customer support and handle returns, refunds and warranty claims; prevent fraud and protect the security of the Site and our payment provider; comply with legal obligations, including tax and consumer protection laws; improve the Site, our products and your shopping experience through analytics; and, with your consent or where permitted, send you marketing communications about our products and offers. We do not use your information for automated decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on you.
5. Data Retention
Retention is tied to purpose: transaction data stays for 7 years (tax and warranty), support tickets for 3 years, marketing consent records until you opt out plus a suppression record so we do not contact you again, and technical logs for up to 12 months. After that, we delete or anonymize the data unless we must keep it for a legal claim or a statutory obligation.
6. Security
Your data travels over encrypted connections, card payments are handled by PCI-compliant processors so full card numbers never reach us, and only authorized staff can access customer records. We rely on Shopify's security infrastructure for hosting. While we work hard to keep information safe, no system is invulnerable; in the event of a security incident involving your personal information, we will inform you and the authorities in accordance with applicable breach-notification laws.
7. Privacy Rights for U.S. Residents
We extend the following rights to every customer in the United States, whether or not your state's privacy law applies to a business of our size: to know what data we have about you and receive a copy; to correct it; to have it deleted, except what we must keep for orders, taxes or disputes; and to opt out of marketing, targeted advertising (controls on the Cookie preferences page) and any sale or sharing of personal information (we sell none). Requests go to help@anthorecommerce.com; we confirm your identity through your order email and answer within 45 days, and you can appeal a refusal by replying. Exercising your rights never affects the price or service you receive. We do not respond to Do Not Track browser signals; we do treat a Global Privacy Control signal as an opt-out of targeted advertising cookies.
8. Email Communications
We send marketing emails only to customers and subscribers, and you can stop them at any time using the unsubscribe link at the bottom of each message or by emailing help@anthorecommerce.com; we process the request within 10 business days. Our emails always show who they are from and our physical mailing address, in compliance with the CAN-SPAM Act. Opting out of marketing does not affect order confirmations, shipping notices or replies to your requests.
9. Minors
The Site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13, in accordance with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact help@anthorecommerce.com and we will delete it promptly.
10. European Union — GDPR
If you are in the European Economic Area, the General Data Protection Regulation applies. Legal bases: performance of the contract (orders, delivery, support), compliance with legal obligations (tax, consumer law), our legitimate interests (fraud prevention, security, analytics, marketing to existing customers with opt-out) and your consent (non-essential cookies, newsletter), which you can withdraw at any time. Transfers: we are established in the United States, and your data is transferred there and to our fulfillment partners; transfers rely on the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework where the recipient is certified, and otherwise on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses. Your rights: access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, objection (including to direct marketing at any time) and the right not to be subject to solely automated decisions; write to help@anthorecommerce.com and we respond within one month. You have the right to lodge a complaint with the supervisory authority of your country of residence.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in our practices or the law. The effective date at the top is updated whenever we do, and material changes are announced on the Site or by email to customers before they take effect. Continued use of the Site after a change means you accept the updated policy.
